|Description||This cozy cottage, sunny and spacious, comfortable and uncluttered, was designed with you, the Maine beach vacationer, in mind. Whether you visit Maine in spring, summer, or fall this cottage is the perfect homebase for you.
Within an easy walk, casual bike ride or quick drive you will be at some of the Maine coast's most beautiful beaches, eating at the finest restaurants in Ogunquit, Wells, or Kennebunk, hiking in the woods, antiquing in York, visiting local farms and farmstands, shopping at the outlet stores of Kittery, or enjoying the hipster scene (and the great food) of Portland.
If staying put is more your vacation style, this cottage is centrally located in the Seaglass community - right around the corner from the tennis courts, and a two minute walk to the clubhouse where you can cool off in the large salt water pool, work out in the outdoor walking resistance pool, relax in the hot tub, play a round of bocce or shuffleboard or try out the new nine hole putting green. The indoor workout area features a resistance pool, new workout machines, locker rooms and stretching spaces. The clubhouse itself is a great place to meet up, grab a cocktail at the Sandbar, sit and do a puzzle, take advantage of the Wi-Fi, or curl up in a comfy chair and read a book. In the evenings you can enjoy a fire in the stone fireplace on the deck, or you can pull up an Adirondack chair at one of the communal fire pits on the grounds and make a real bonfire, complete with marshmallows and s'mores.
The cottage itself is made for relaxing. With a large and cozy sectional and comfy chairs in the three season porch, everyone in your party can take a nap, sit and read a book, enjoy a glass of wine, watch a movie or do nothing and watch the birds in the trees outside the windows. The sky blue walls with windows on three sides and the cathedral ceiling make you forget that you are indoors.
If you love to cook, the kitchen is fully furnished with all you could need to make your favorite vacation meals. The kitchen itself features brand-new appliances and granite countertops, and all the small appliances you could possibly want. Naturally, there's a lobster pot and lobster crackers in case you decide to bring some home and cook them yourself. The open U-shaped kitchen has a snack bar with two barstools so that friends can pull up a chair and enjoy a cocktail while visiting with the chef. For those with grilling skills, there's a brand-new fully outfitted grill out back with table and chairs nestled right next to the woods.
Decorated in seaglass blues and greens and earthy browns, the two bedrooms are cozy, inviting, and airy. The quiet and the fresh Maine air begs you to sleep with your windows open and the AC is ready for those nights when you need to cool down. The master bedroom has a brand new queen size bed from Boston Interiors and the coziest linens from Pottery Barn. It also features a generous half bath.
The trundle in the second bedroom can be used as a single bed, two single beds, or a super comfortable king size bed. Fluffy comforters and quilts make this room an ideal sleeping haven. When not in use as a bedroom this room is a cozy den for watching TV, reading a book or taking a nap. It also hides an easy to use washer and dryer in one of the closets. Both bedrooms have side tables, convenient easy to reach reading lamps, alarm clocks, plenty of closet space and spacious chests of drawers.
The full bath is stocked with soaps and lotions from Compagnie de Provence. It also features granite countertops, has a full wall mirror, a large vanity, and a tub/shower with a window that creates the feel of an outdoor shower. The cottage is most comfortable for between one and four people and is designed for adults, 18 years of age and over.
The cottage is fully stocked with all the technology you could want but not so much as to take over your vacation. There are two TVs, DVD player, a radio with a CD player and a plug-in for your own music (from an iPod, iPad or phone) and wireless Internet to keep you connected. But if you love to disconnect, there are plenty of books, jigsaw puzzles, games and cards.
This cottage is brand-new to the Seaglass village rental market and has never been lived in. It was furnished and designed with renters in mind and inspired by a visit to a VRBO in Aspen that was perfect for me in every possible way. My hope is to create a vacation home for you that will bring a similarly satisfying experience in the beautiful state of Maine.
